Item description
A photograph of a smiling woman standing in the middle of a lush green garden. She is white and elderly. Surrounding her are many different plants and flowers that are taller than her knees. In front of her are white flowers with many petals and yellow centers. On her left are yellow flowers, and on her right are yellow and pink flowers. She is wearing tan pants and a tan jacket over a white t-shirt with text that is unreadable and a bright green sun hat.

My garden doesn’t reflect the pandemic, but I reflected on it plenty. I was a public health nurse, and so I understood the science. I marveled at how quickly that vaccine was developed. We were as safe as we possibly could be. We Americans have been extraordinarily lucky; I just couldn't feel sorry for myself no matter how hard I tried. Actually, I didn't even try to feel sorry for myself.
