Southern Spiced: A Brown Girl’s Tale 3
I continued to write and found Zoom classes for different writing classes during the Pandemic. Having this creative expression and a way to connect to community saved my sanity. Then compiling all my work to complete the manuscript “Southern Spiced: A Brown Girl’s Tale” helped me to stay focused on creating works that shared my Voice and experiences as an African American growing up in America. Publication was something else that helped me find completion and continued creative activity. It was important for my existence again, as I lost my Father to the Covid-19 disease in October of 2021. He and my family were also able to share and experience creativity through my works, throughput these very difficult times in our History. I’m grateful that there are ways to express our creativity alone ad with others. Art and artistic expression is healing and life saving.
