A photograph of a box filled with small objects, sitting on a table outside with trees in the background and a blue sky. The box is rectangular and wooden, with a border of black stripes along the outside lip. Inside the box are 5 fake trees, alternating in a row between cork-topped jars of objects. Towards the center, in the front, is a park bench on a patch of grass. Against the back wall, which has a floral pattern, are four framed photos. Four acorn tops hang from the ceiling like chandeliers.

Natural History Museum, Lotto, Tuileries 3

Kiersten F. Latham

I call these "cabinets" after my love for the early cabinets of curiosity which became museums. Each one is a little museum scenario, cobbling together many of my favorite things like dot paintings, thrift finds, and miniatures. I can't get enough of putting these together; since May I have done 22. They completely absorb my attention, giving me the creative break I need each week.
These little cabinets actually combine many aspects of my life, from my professional role as a museologist, to my love for dots, and my obsession over tiny little things. It's a celebration of many things that I love put together into little boxes. It's also a way to connect to my father who was an artist and influenced me greatly.
