Ho Chi Minh City during the Fourth Wave of COVID-19 in Vietnam

This is a short article I wrote for City and Society (journal of the Critical Urban Anthropology Association), published October 2021. This work reflects on my experiences of societal upheaval while trying to conduct my PhD fieldwork in Ho Chi Minh City between April and July 2021. Management of the virus was quite a visual spectacle so as well as using words to explain the phenomenon of pandemic, I included some photos I took in my alleyway neighbourhood and from state media at that time.
