“The following artwork is based on a real-life story of an anonymous person who comes from a poor tribal family in Gujarat, India. It shows two phases of the girl’s life. On the left hand side, she is shown in poor clothes with a bun along with bucket, broom, and clothes around. This depicts her phase when she used to do the job of sweeping and cleaning in an office. Her chores were just restricted to cleaning, and she didn’t have any post in her office. This continued till half of the covid period.”

“After mid 2020 she started taking interest in other office works too. She learnt how to operate computers and started getting basic education including learning English. She also went for community meetings with her NGO team and learnt to interact with villagers. Now she participates in community liaison and networking. Her dressing style changed as per her changed role from normal clothes to modern clothes. This is all depicted on the right side with modern clothes, files, computer, and community meetings.”

“Thus, during the COVID period, she upscaled herself by engaging into office work and also supported her family through increased salary. Now she has a post called office assistant along with suitable income, ready for new tasks and challenges herself with new experiences.” all in black text.

Beneath the description are the words “name: Chaitali D. Sinha” in the left corner and “date: 15th May 2022” in the right corner.

  • A series of images displays a woman holding life-sized photographs of herself in masks and face paint over her face. Each photo is taken of the artist’s chest up and the photographs the artist is holding lines up with her shoulders. Many of the images are distorted via digital editing or double exposure, creating an eerie atmosphere. The first piece is a digital illustration of a person’s backside. Their hair is in a braid and their arms are reaching behind their back with the front of their wrists touching. The hands and body are full of brown lines that swirl around each other without touching. The lines are closest together at the fingers and places on the body where the fingertips touch, spreading and straightening out as they get farther away. The background is white. Text next to the piece reads: “Hands without contour, hands that flow to their rhythm, hands that stain and do not touch, digital illustration, prepared in May 2021.”

The second piece is a digital illustration of red lines on a white background. The lines take the form of a curved, body-like shape at the bottom. Balanced on the center of the shape is a square with a long red beam on top of it. A circle is balanced on top of the beam, tilting it to the left. The lines swirl around the page and are thinner onwards the center of the piece and thicker along the edges. Text next to the piece reads: “Monolithic body, red body that flows with its surroundings, a strong and warm body, digital illustration, prepared in June 2021.”

The final page displays both pieces, framed next to each other on a white wall. Text in Spanish is translated in English: “Red body without outline.
