Item description
A saxophone acting as a planter on a front porch. Viney leaves weave themselves around the body of the instrument, and the plant reaches out from the opening of the saxophone with more leaves sprouting. Spiderwebs attach the top of the instrument to the brick wall and brown shutters behind it.

The themes of my creativity during the pandemic were domestic spaces and objects, revisiting unresolved works, and protest. During COVID-19, I spent much of my time when I was not at work producing works at home for my artist-in-residence group exhibition in October of 2020.
Two saxophone hanging planters have been a constant presence on my front porch since the early days of COVID. I attempt to grow morning glory seeds in them every year, and the plant vines but never flowers.
