COVID-19 Abyss of the Birds

This is a collaboration of music and photography. (My photographer is with her son who is in the hospital, so I do not have access to the file. I can provide it later.) I performed the "Abyss of the Birds" by Olivier Messiaen, the solo clarinet movement from "The Quartet for the End of Time." I collaborated with photographer Tiziana Rozzo, who provided images which enhance the emotional meaning of the music. We created this video during the period of lockdown from COVID. We felt that this music spoke to us especially at this dark time of the pandemic. While we were locked down, fearing illness or even death, we felt an affinity for this music which was composed when Messiaen was a prisoner of war. We felt that many people might share those emotions, and the sharing with others might make them feel less alone.
