I started making sourdough after I got a starter from a friend. I had never been all that big a fan of baking; it seemed too regimented and formal compared to cooking. However, as I began to feed the dough and make loaves, I found that there was much more finesse and personal preference involved. The amount of time it took to make (3 days) reflected some sense of regularity in my life at a time when things were constantly changing. I like how sourdough often forms the base for many other creations, and I've gotten really into making my own sourdough crust pizza. That's what I've attached a photo of here. It's an equally long process as making a loaf, but the reward is arguably much better. (Also you should always make your own sauce)
