Pandemic Projects 3: Seedlings
Photo "Seedlings". With no travel in sight, it was easy to plan for the garden and raise my own seedlings for everything we wanted. I raised about 36 tomato plants from seeds I had saved the year before. Most of the plants I shared with neighbors but for two years now, my garden and been lush with heirloom tomatoes that grace every meal during the season. Eating from the garden harked back to how my grandparents and more distant relatives had lived. Eating this way felt...eternal. I cannot sit still in ordinary times. With all the time that the pandemic gave us and with all the stress that came as well, my hands and my head needed something productive to do. Feeding my family by cooking and by raising my garden was therapeutic. Writing was also therapeutic in giving me something to concentrate on besides news of the pandemic.
