The Language of Mental Health

Simone Robinson

I created this video for one of my classes at Ohio State. It was for an assignment dedicated towards language in relation to the arts. For my classmates this meant studying various languages and doing research to either create their own language, or to recreate an already existing one. However for me, this meant explaining the language that no one literary talks about. This language is mental health and the various mental health disorders that exist today. I interviewed a few people to understand different perspectives of what means to live with certain mental health conditions, and creating a piece that was dedicated to these people and telling their story. Lastly, this piece was a chance for me to be honest with myself about my own social anxiety which was heard to face (and is still a challenge) because I have always seen myself as a confident and extraverted person.
