Untitled 2
Confined largely to my own yard for several months as the COVID-19 shutdown evolved, I fussed over many projects around the house, but focused upon several that were related to the development of the family apple orchard. The first was simply planting three overpriced apple trees for a big box store sale in the yard, along a fence line. These are espaliered to follow the fence, no more than a foot deep but 8 feet across. This to experiment with the possibilities of both space efficiency and the ornamental possibilities of apple trees. In their second season, the trees are quite vigorous and simply require the therapeutic work of frequent pruning…a lot like sculpture.
