Nagapattinam: Waves from the Deep
This documentary looks at the more than decade-long trauma due to the devastation of Nagapattainam, a fisher town on the eastern coast of South India. The Tsunami struck Nagappatinam on the day after Christmas, 26th of December 2004. This documentary explores the trauma and engages with the discourses surrounding disaster management and relief measures and the corruption surrounding it. I have been editing and revising the documentary during COVID. The latest version is being screened on 18th September,––coming Saturday––at the Social Justice Film Festival, in Chennai, India.
