Item description
A photograph of two pieces of slightly sheer white paper with the same stamped image in black ink. The image is a large bird pouring a watering can over a garden of sunflowers with its feet. Below the soil the flowers are growing in are fish heads, worms and pebbles between the roots. Laying beside the paper are two Flexcut Palm Carving Tools. The items are all sitting on a light wood table.

I had done some printmaking before but really started getting more into it during the pandemic. I needed a creative hobby that let me work with my hands but that I could do at home in a relatively small space. The act of making things, especially things I could give as gifts, is immensely satisfying to me, and printmaking is nice because I can put on a show in the background and still do something that feels productive and fulfilling. If anything, making these was an escape from thinking about the pandemic. Carving a block, for me, is the most reliable way I can go into a 'flow' state, which was a way to stop thinking about all the other pandemic-induced worries I had in my life (personal, family, financial, etc).
