These are all an abstract ink drawings, some with cardstock borders, created in a more or less stream-of-consciousness style. I hadn't taken an art class since junior high school, and I always assumed I was bad at drawing. In fact, I have always struggled with creative endeavors, because at some point I became overly critical and perfectionistic about everything I did. Over the course of the pandemic, I realized that I could draw solely for enjoyment and stop judging my skills against some self-imposed standard. Once I internalized that, I really started to enjoy it and I wanted to experiment, creating things that are ambiguous, patterns that make their own rules and then break them, something interesting to look at. I wanted to create drawings which were unlike anything I had ever seen.
