Item description
An abstract painting in watercolor and colored pencil, done on paper. There are countless, slightly wavy, thick lines that stretch from the top to the bottom of the painting. Some of them overlap each other, looking like vines or tendrils. All of the lines are in shades of bright pink, red, and magenta; the white of the page is visible through small gaps and the transparency of the lines. Red colored pencil outlines or cuts through some of the lines in small, short strokes.

Alexandria Levin

Four 2022 watercolors: "In the late winter of 2022, I had an abstract watercolor vision while drifting off to sleep, and I’ve been chasing that vision ever since, as it wanders off in myriad directions. I am finding these abstractions calming to create, and as they mostly are intuitive, I keep following them. They feel to be flowing water, rivers, rivulets, the sea, vines, roots, tendrils, and maybe even the veil between worlds. I don’t understand them completely, because I am usually a story-teller with my painting, but they are maybe similar in some ways to my abstract headache, depression, and anxiety paintings. However, these watercolor paintings are seeking, and not depicting as much of my work has been."
