I made this digital drawing during the peak of the pandemic when I was in self-isolation. At the time, I was by myself in my apartment, where being alone had never felt so bare. This image was created in a way that visualized that stark loneliness.

Photos as Masks

A series of images displays a woman holding life-sized photographs of herself in masks and face paint over her face. Each photo is taken of the artist’s chest up and the photographs the artist is holding lines up with her shoulders. Many of the images are distorted via digital editing or double exposure, creating an eerie atmosphere. The images are meant to be reminiscent of the Zoom call layout, and can be seen as a video call with all the artist’s different selves.

Parchment Paper Baking

A digitally combined assembly of photographs. The photographs are all rectangular and put together in a grid pattern that is 8 photographs wide and 8 photographs tall, with 64 photographs total. Every photograph is of a sheet of parchment paper with marks where something has been cooked on it.

Window Art

A digitally combined collage of photographs. The photographs all are of decorated glass, vary in size and shape, and are stacked on top of each other. The decorations on the top two thirds are geometric and colorful like stained glass. The bottom third is of drawn flowers, with lightly snow-covered grass and a brick step on the other side of the window.

Hallmark Cards

A digitally combined collage of many, many photographs. Each photograph is of a paper card, including birthday cards, get well soon cards, holiday cards, and more. There are roughly 500 cards arranged in a square grid. They are so small that the details of each aren’t visible and form a colorful patchwork.

All the Circles We Could Find in our House

An assortment of round, button-like objects in varying shapes, sizes, patterns, and colors. Among them are a red letter “G” on a wooden plaque, CDs, a fan, a button with the word “noel”, a dartboard, a donut with pink frosting, and an Ultra Ball from the Pokemon series.

I Spy

An assortment of small objects laid out on four rectangular cloth surfaces that together form a checkerboard. The top left surface is off white, the top right is pale blue, the bottom left is blue, and the bottom right is pale green. The objects are arranged neatly but in no particular pattern. Many are too small to make out; among the more visible are a fabric checkerboard, a folded up map with the words “The Australian” visible at the top, a blue, white, red, and yellow flag, a red personal fan, and various pieces of jewelry.

Medusa Tile

A digitally combined patchwork of tiles. Each tile features a depiction of Medusa formed by shards of glass, with white and transparent glass for skin and shades of green to form her snake hair. The image is repeated in squares of four, with the tiles rotated so the faces face each other, forming a 9-square quilt-like pattern. Three of the squares are true to color; the top left, bottom center, and middle right. Two of the squares are tinted pale green; the top center and left center. The top right and bottom left drama are tinted red. The center and bottom left are tinted yellow.

Raising Socks

A mixed-media digital artwork depicting 14 stiff rectangular flags raised into a cloudy sky at different heights, pointed in different directions. The fabric of the flags is a woven texture of socks, each with a different design. Some are pointed away so their patterns aren’t visible; among the visible are a basketball on a gray background, rainbow dots on a black background, and striped blue and white.

Vertical Jars

A geometric display of many combined photographs of mason jars. The jars are arranged in vertical lines, with 14 columns total. They vary in size, shape, and placement, creating a staggered look horizontally. The jars contain various objects such as cotton balls, jelly, seashells, rocks, small colorful toys, pickles, and household cooking staples. While the arrangement of the jars is uniform, there is no pattern to their contents.

Sky Divers

A digital canvas of small photographs interrupted by patches of white. The photographs, so small they seem to pixelate the image, depict the sky at all times of day under all weather conditions. In the white between the images are colorful silhouettes of skydivers with their parachutes billowing above them, surrounded by squares of sky.

The Evergreens Behind our House

A photograph of evergreen trees. The photograph has been distorted into squares that have been re-arranged, so that each square shows the texture of an evergreen branch, but the shape of a distinct tree cannot be found. Light peeks through the branches on the top left, and a white sky shines above the tips of the trees in the upper right corner.
