Self Portrait

"Self Portrait." I am a professional watercolor artist. But early last year I decided to do this self portrait in acrylics. I opened up tubes I hadn't used in 30 years. I was looking in a mirror through blinds in a room one day. I really felt like the shadows from the blinds represented my feelings of isolation due to Covid. I specialize in portraits and couldn't look at faces because of masks.

That was very frustrating.

The pandemic experience only made the feelings of loss and loneliness develop quicker and deeper but also provided the space to lean into the loss and work through it thoroughly without the opportunity for distraction to take it's place. If it wasn't for the space provided by the pandemic, I don't think I would have been able to process grief as well as I did.

The Path (Still)

State of the Nation

To Mend a Broken Heart 1

Angel of the Pandemic: Dear Lord, I am Tired

Hanging on or Letting Go

AHISTORIC WALK

The Vibrant Village 3
