Kenneth Hunter

After making many paintings and many mistakes, there were a few that were successful and more that had good moments but not cohesive. So taking the recovery process further, the pieces that were not successful were then cut and repurposed into new forms, applied onto a new surface, and continued on with the painting process.

The pandemic experience only made the feelings of loss and loneliness develop quicker and deeper but also provided the space to lean into the loss and work through it thoroughly without the opportunity for distraction to take it's place. If it wasn't for the space provided by the pandemic, I don't think I would have been able to process grief as well as I did.

The Path (Still)

State of the Nation

To Mend a Broken Heart 1

Angel of the Pandemic: Dear Lord, I am Tired

Someday We'll Dance

Hanging on or Letting Go

Breaking Free

AHISTORIC WALK

Make a Wish

The Vibrant Village 1

The Vibrant Village 2

These paintings were created by a poured paint method, resulting in curvy organic shapes and spots. They are all quite similar in color and composition, aside from differences in arrangement. In each painting, dark blue and purple waves bump into other cascading paints. Other colors present are dark orange, maroon, bright white, pink, and yellow. Five of the six paintings are also covered in a layer of small yellow spots. Black paint fills the gaps.
